Walgreens builds a lot of discontent with new store
The old (and somewhat beloved) City People's store on Capitol Hill is being replaced by a Walgreens. Apparently Walgreens has been able to utilize a loophole in the city land-use code to bypass neighborhood approval for their plan. The neighborhood is fighting back with protests and a web site: www.badwalgreens.com. Walgreens has responded by making changes to their plan. Example of evil corporate greed, or grass-roots activism having a positive effect (or both!)? Discuss.
