Salon.com People | Pippi Longstocking creator dies
"Popular children's writer Astrid Lindgren, creator of the braided, freethinking Pippi Longstocking, died Monday. She was 94."
It feels creepy, bloggin the Brunching Shuttlecocks tribute to Pippi yesterday, then reading this headline today. I first encountered Pippi in the Saturday monning matinees at the small theatre in my home town. I had no idea at the time that the movies were based on a series of book, otherwise I would have run out and read them right away. Pippi Longstocking was as fine a work of children's literature as any.
